Oma's Kitchen Reviews

The Fren Family own and run Oma's Kitchen. For over five and a half years we have all worked extremely hard to establish a successful German Restaurant in Newcastle. This year we starred in Travel Guides a new show on Channel 9. We are fortunate enough to have been invited back for Travel Guides Series 2, which will be filmed later this year. Due to the road works and closure to Watt Street we are unable to keep the restaurant open, as our trade has dropped dramatically.

Our last day of trade will be Saturday 15th July 2017, reopening on Wednesday 15th November 2017.

We thank everyone for their support over the past five and a half years and look forward to seeing you soon.

~ Love Mark, Cathy, Jonathon and Victoria.

Oma's Kitchen Review in the Newcastle Herald.

I grabbed a Pork Sausage with Sauerkraut on a roll for $6 thanks to a billboard at the end of the street. Turned out to be a really good option as I ate down at the foreshore park and watched life go by. Very pleasant roll, they also had Beef, and fantastic service. Highly recommended - Albywon

Had lunch here last week. Really enjoyed the potato pancakes and goulash pie. Friendly service and good prices. Will definitely come again. If you are coming in from out-of-town, make sure you check out the surrounding streets and near-by beaches. - snazzyshaz208

Dined out here last Saturday night. Our group of 4 didn't have a booking, and although the Cafe was quite busy, the very hospitable and friendly staff found us a table inside where we enjoyed some pre dinner German beers. Food was delicious and reasonably priced and the coffee and shortbread were a perfect end to a great meal. We will definitely return. - Befle

The best German food you could ever eat in a Cafe. Very relaxed, I took my Mum and Dad there for a night out, the food just tasted like mums cooking, genuine German food. When you go there ask for the warm red wine it is great on a cold night. - missjaneNewcastle

I went here for Hot Choc and Dessert. The service was excellent, the hot chocs/coffee were huge! and the choc cake tasted home made and delicious with a yummy choc sauce. Great value, I will definitely be back! - TravellerNZ101

Best German meal I've had outside Germany!    ~ Blake Wilson
